As you can see everything has complete change, and is changing, for me. But why the changes? Why now at age 46?
The truth is I’m making these changes now because I can. The time has been made available. Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been wanting to leave America and change my name. Well I did the first thing on this list.
As of February 10, 2026, the courts will allow me to legally change my name to Alexander Tracy Pyerse or simply Lex Pyerse.
Alexander: First Name
Alexander is my birth middle name. I feel close to Lex now that I’ve been called this for about five years or so. However, I want a little different between my corporation and my author or pen name.
Pyerse: Surname
Pyerse is because this is the spelling I used as a pen name to stomach being called Pierce Jr. I hated this name because it felt like I was the 2.0 of Pierce Sr. And I hated being compared to him. So one day, I just changed it I to a Y and the C to an S and ran with it. To be honest, Pyerse Dandridge wasn’t supposed to be a permeant name.
Also Pierce Jr never felt like MY name. I had a difficult time putting “the P-I spelling” on a creative project that I worked so hard on. It felt like I was putting “his name” on my work and not mine.
Yes, me and Pierce Sr. have a good relationship. We have solved and ended our problems and issues. But Tracy has always felt like my dad. In fact, I introduce Tracy as dad whenever I can. Pyerse is something that I am very much identified with over the last twenty or so years, maybe even thirty. I know the phonetic sound is still the same, but Pyerse feels like MY NAME. Because of that, I am making it my surname.
Tracy: Middle Name
Tracy, as mentioned above is the man I considered dad. He’s my mom’s second husband. They have been married since 1987. He’s been a staple in my life ever since. Everything I learned about manhood came from Tracy. He was the one who did all the actual work of a dad.
The only reason I don’t actually call him Dad is because he didn’t like me or my brother calling him that. He felt that title was for Pierce Sr. However, within a few years, Tracy understood that Pierce Sr. wasn’t worthy of that title. But by then, me and my brother already called Tracy by his first name.
Matching Corporation
The other cool thing about this name change is that my name now perfectly fits my corporation’s name Lex Pyerse. I already have people calling me Lex because they assumed it was my name at events.
Finally, I have this change out of the way. It really feels like an accomplishment. I also feel like I have a new path ahead of me. It feels like my own path.
